OAC Book Drive

Over the past few years, OAC book drives have made a very positive impact on our community. In previous years, members donated more than 250 culturally appropriate new books to the Sausalito Marin City School District libraries, as well as over 100 books and two bookcases to the Marin City Wellness Center.

Beginning March 1, visit the SignUpGenius link on our website to choose a favorite picture book or
an inexpensive bilingual edition. Because the titles on The Atlantic’s list vary in cost, you can choose
to contribute one, two, or even three copies of a specific book. If our members fill every slot on the
list, we will be able to completely restock all of the clinics’ bookshelves!

This March, we will follow up on last year’s successful drive with another effort supporting the literacy program at the Marin Community Clinic’s three pediatric centers. These clinics provide compassionate, affordable healthcare on a sliding scale to anyone in our community who needs it. Through "book nooks" in their waiting rooms, parents are encouraged to read to their children and then take the books home. Last year, we filled these nooks with many bilingual titles; now, those shelves are in need of restocking. While our

SignUpGenius list, which goes live on March 1, includes several bilingual options, we have also
added 65 titles from the Atlantic Monthly’s “Essential Children’s Picture Books.”
